Connectivism is a digital era theory based on the premise of the diversity of opinions and criteria which leads to the foundation of multiple networks, database, information flows and links, all of them sources for the improving of communication but, mainly, focuses on the learning field. Connectivism theory can be seen, then, as a provider of information tools and appliances that reinforce the interaction and integration not only of students but people in general as well. It can be assumed as the end of the individualist learning due to the social implications in all aspects of life: the rise of the collective cognitive capability of an organization based on the interdependence of its members where proposals, decisions and challenges permit the growth and the development of a technological demanding society.

Connectivism, as the theory states, aims at developing learning in students through a process of exchanging information of all kinds, from any source, i.e., pc, databases, books, people, etc. Likewise, students are able to create nodes on information in a "network" from which they'll acquire knowledge and thus, learn in an effective and useful way. This theory has arisen in the digital age era, with the purpose of developing a theory which fits the needs and demands of modern societies. According to what the theory establishes, LEARNING is not a stable process, on the contrary, it is an active process humans develop as members of a community of knowledge. Any kind of information that they posses is shared in order to broaden the kowledge they already have. INTERACTION is a determinant element within this theory since it allows the exchanging of information among the members of the knowledge community. Undoubtedly, this updated theory should be helpful for the teaching-learning process, as it allows interaction between students and teachers, considering important and useful any kind of information and knowledge that each learner posses thus, regarding students and teachers as fundamental members of the learning process, in the same level of importance.

Nowadays with the use of technology this kind of theory is totally updated. Connectivism theory provides us, as teachers, an extra tool into classrooms. Regarding knowledge every theory that teachers can learn in order to use it into classroom is an extra source of information. Human brains are complex machines where the process of acquisition takes place, but they are not the only place in which information can be stored. In order to acquire language, connectivism takes an important role, specially nowadays, the digital era, where computers and technology are playing a race in with teacher should be an important part in this process.

The Digital Era has provided many tools to all the fields of knowledge, and teaching is not the exception. Connectivism is a theory that claims that knowledge can not only being stored in the human brain, but in digital devices such a computers and other electronic apparatus. Nowadays there are many tools that would help teachers to “construct” the knowledge in a cooperative way without the need of having their students in a classroom by using the web, for example, wikis could be excellent tools to accumulate information shared by a group of students, without being the teacher the only who provides the input. This way students will be able to learn in a cooperative way.
